Due to the hard work of Rep. Walker Hines, the Upper Audubon Security District Legislation passed the Legislature the week of June 16,  2008 and was sent to the Governor's desk for his signature. HB 1005 was co-authored by Rep. Neil Abramson and Rep. Walker Hines. A copy of the draft bill can be found on a tab below.

On November 4th, 2008 voters in the Security District (Walnut Street to both sides of Broadway and St. Charles Ave. to Magazine St.) voted to approve the assessment of a fee, not to exceed $500 annually, for every parcel in the security district. The main purpose of the district is to aid in the crime prevention and reduction by providing additional security for the district residents.   The goal in creating the Security District is to have a 24-hour patrol supported by all residents of the Upper Audubon area.
